Kaia and LINE Next to Roll Out 'Universally Compliant' Stablecoin Super-App Across Asia

AsianFin — the public blockchain formed from the merger of Kakao’s Klaytn and LINE’s Finschia networks — together with LINE NEXT, LINE’s venture arm, unveiled plans on Monday to launch a stablecoin-powered super-app within LINE Messenger, the chat platform with nearly 200 million monthly users across Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand. The announcement was made during Korea Blockchain Week in Seoul.

The initiative, dubbed Project Unify, is set to debut in beta later this year. It will integrate payments, remittances, stablecoin yield services, fiat on- and off-ramps for digital tokens, and access to over 100 decentralized applications into a single platform.

Designed as a “universally compliant” stablecoin issuance and on-chain liquidity management solution, Project Unify aims to resolve gaps in current stablecoin infrastructure, said Dr. Sangmin Seo, chairman of the Kaia DLT Foundation, in an interview with Decrypt.

By framing the initiative as both a “universal stablecoin and Web3 super-app,” Seo said, the project is intended to meet the needs of a broad spectrum of users and expand adoption of blockchain-powered financial services across Asia.
