AsianFin -- Chinese ride-hailing drivers earn an average of 7,623 yuan ($1,070) per month, ranking second among six major blue-collar jobs, according to a survey by the China Research Center on New Forms of Employment at Capital University of Economics and Business (CNFE).

The poll, which covered 5,400 drivers across 13 provincial-level regions, found that over 81 percent expressed satisfaction with their work, citing flexible hours, in-vehicle safety, and instant payouts as key factors supporting financial stability.

Earnings vary based on fares, order volume, bonuses, fuel or electricity costs, and pick-up efficiency. Commission fees are also significant, with Didi, the industry leader, charging an average rate of 14 percent last year.

With nearly 7.5 million drivers nationwide, China’s ride-hailing industry has become not only a vital source of flexible employment but also an important buffer for workers displaced by industrial restructuring and regional economic shifts, CNFE noted.
