AsianFin -- OpenAI on Tuesday announced the launch of the “Stargate UK” initiative, an AI infrastructure collaboration with NVIDIA and Nscale, aimed at enhancing the United Kingdom’s autonomous computing capabilities. The project ensures that OpenAI’s AI models can operate on local UK computing resources to serve domestic demand.

Nscale plans to significantly expand its Stargate computing deployment in the UK. OpenAI intends to procure up to 8,000 GPUs in the first quarter of 2026, with the potential to scale to 31,000 GPUs in the future.

NVIDIA will provide cutting-edge GPU hardware to support the project with the latest generation AI infrastructure. The initiative also incorporates semiconductor designs from UK chip giant Arm, technology that has been integrated into NVIDIA’s newly launched Grace Blackwell series chips.
