Disney’s ABC Suspends Late-Night Show After Backlash to Host’s Remarks on Charlie Kirk Killing

Sep 17, 2025, 11:32 p.m. ET

AsianFin -- Walt Disney Co.’s ABC network has suspended a late-night program indefinitely following outrage over comments the host made about the killing of Republican activist Charlie Kirk.

The suspension, which took effect with Wednesday’s scheduled broadcast, was confirmed in a statement from Disney. The company’s decision came just minutes after Nexstar Media Group Inc. — owner of dozens of ABC affiliates — announced it would stop airing the show indefinitely, calling the remarks “offensive and insensitive.”

The controversy marks one of the most significant programming disruptions for ABC in recent years, underscoring the heightened scrutiny networks face over politically charged content.
