AsianFin -- Huawei on Tuesday held a major event to release its “Intelligent World 2035” series reports. The reports outline the company’s vision for the next decade of technological evolution and digital transformation.
The Intelligent World 2035 report identifies ten major technology trends expected to shape society and industry over the coming years.
The first trend highlights Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) as the most transformative driver over the next decade. Despite its potential, AGI faces significant technical challenges. Huawei emphasizes that for AGI to reach its “singularity,” it must evolve to interact seamlessly with the physical world.
The second trend notes that AI will shift from being a mere tool to becoming a decision-making partner. The development of large-scale AI models will enable intelligent agents to guide industries and catalyze new waves of industrial innovation.
Third, development models will undergo a fundamental change, with human-AI collaborative programming becoming mainstream. Humans will focus on high-level design and creative problem-solving, while AI handles repetitive coding and execution tasks with efficiency and precision.
Fourth, interaction with digital systems will evolve from graphical interfaces to natural language and multimodal interactions that engage all five senses. Users will increasingly communicate with digital environments through speech, gestures, and other sensory inputs, achieving immersive experiences.
Fifth, mobile applications will transition from standalone functional entities to AI-driven service nodes. Users will issue commands, and AI agents will orchestrate multiple services to deliver highly personalized experiences.
The sixth trend points to autonomous driving. With breakthroughs in world models and other critical technologies, L4+ autonomous vehicles will become integral to daily life, effectively creating a “third mobile space” beyond home and office.
Seventh, computing power will grow exponentially. By 2035, total societal computing capacity is projected to increase 100,000-fold. Innovations in computing architecture, materials, engineering processes, and paradigms will break the constraints of traditional von Neumann systems, paving the way for a new era of advanced computing.
Eighth, data will emerge as the “new fuel” for AI development. Storage demands for AI will grow 500-fold from 2025 levels, accounting for more than 70% of total data capacity. Agentic AI will drive new paradigms in data storage and management.
The ninth trend forecasts a dramatic expansion in network connectivity, from 9 billion humans today to 9 trillion intelligent agents by 2035, signaling a leap from the mobile internet era to the “Internet of Intelligent Things.”
Finally, Huawei highlights energy as a critical constraint on AI growth. By 2035, renewable energy will replace a majority of traditional fossil energy, surpassing 50% of total generation. AI will play a central role in managing energy flows in real time, optimizing the grid through intelligent token-based monitoring of every joule, enabling a more dynamic and efficient energy ecosystem.
