AsianFin -- Shares of semiconductor companies extended their rally on Tuesday, with the sector marking its longest winning streak in nearly eight years.
The Philadelphia Stock Exchange Semiconductor Index gained 0.3%, advancing for the ninth straight session — its longest positive run since 2017. Over the period, the benchmark has climbed 8.7% and is now up 22% in 2025, outpacing the Nasdaq 100 Index’s nearly 16% gain.
Individual movers included ON Semiconductor Corp., which rose 3%, Intel Corp. with a 2% gain, and Applied Materials Inc., which added 1.5%. Nvidia Corp., the dominant player in artificial intelligence chips, slipped 1.6% but remains up more than 30% this year. Broadcom Inc. also declined, falling 1.1%, though it continues to lead the sector with a 55% year-to-date advance.
