AsianFin -- Huawei Technologies surpassed Apple to become the world’s largest smartwatch supplier for the first time in the second quarter of 2025, according to new data from Counterpoint Research.
The Chinese tech giant’s smartwatch shipments jumped 52% in the three months ended June 30 compared with a year earlier, lifting its global market share to 21% from 15%. Apple’s deliveries, by contrast, slipped 3%, marking a seventh consecutive month of declines and reducing its market share to 17% from 19%.
The report, released on Aug. 28, also showed China overtaking other countries to become the world’s largest advanced smartwatch market during the quarter.
Despite losing the overall crown, Apple still holds the lead in the advanced smartwatch segment, supported by the strength of its iOS ecosystem and loyal customer base, Counterpoint said.
