AsianFin -- India is aiming to wrap up a bilateral trade agreement with the United States by November, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal announced Tuesday during an investor conference in Mumbai.
Speaking virtually, Goyal said trade talks with the European Union are making progress, while relations with China are “returning to normal” following a period of border tensions.
He added that India has already secured trade agreements with Mauritius, Australia, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates.
The United States is India’s largest trading partner, though ties have recently been strained over disputes on tariffs and New Delhi’s purchases of Russian oil. Washington imposed a 50% tariff on key Indian exports beginning August 27.
