Xi Warns of “Peace or War” as Trump Accuses China of Conspiring Against U.S.

AsianFin -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday warned that the world faces a stark choice between “peace or war” and “dialogues or confrontation” while delivering his remarks during Beijing’s largest military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The speech coincided with U.S. President Donald Trump posting on Truth Social, urging Xi to acknowledge America’s contributions to securing China’s freedom while also alleging that Beijing was conspiring against Washington.

“Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un, as you conspire against The United States of America,” Trump wrote.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un were among more than 20 global leaders attending the “Victory Day” parade at Tiananmen Square.

Analysts say the presence of Putin and Kim is unlikely to derail ongoing U.S.-China trade talks, as both countries have signaled an interest in progressing toward a deal in the coming months. Neil Thomas, a fellow for China politics at Asia Society, noted that the parade underscores China’s growing influence in regional diplomacy, particularly amid uncertainty about Washington’s appetite for trade and investment agreements in Asia.

“The fact that China has this increased gravitational pull in regional diplomacy is telling about the progress it has made,” Thomas added, highlighting the symbolic importance of hosting world leaders amid rising global tensions.
