AsianFin -- Chinese battery-materials company GEM Co. Ltd. reported record profits for the first half of 2025, driven by a surge in nickel production at its Indonesian plants.

The company’s net income rose 14% to nearly 800 million yuan ($112 million) for the six months ending June, according to a filing on Thursday. GEM shipped a record 43,977 tons of nickel from its Southeast Asian operations, more than double the volume from the same period last year.

The company also noted continued production gains in July and August following operational disruptions caused by heavy rains in March, which prompted safety updates across its facilities.
