AsianFin -- Norwegian seafood exports to China surged dramatically in July, rising 88 percent year-on-year, making China the second-largest market globally for Norway’s seafood during the month, the Norwegian Seafood Council reported on Thursday.
China has become a crucial market not only for Norwegian salmon but also as a growth engine for Norway’s overall seafood exports, the council said. The rapid increase highlights the country’s rising demand for high-quality imported seafood and underscores China’s importance in global trade flows for the sector.
Efforts to expand trade are ongoing. The Norwegian Seafood Council, together with eight leading Norwegian seafood companies, is participating in the 19th Shanghai International Fisheries and Seafood Exhibition, held from Wednesday to Friday.
The exhibition offers foreign exporters a platform to showcase products to China’s large consumer base while facilitating deeper cooperation and exchange between Chinese and international businesses. With such events, Norway aims to further solidify its foothold in China’s seafood market and boost long-term growth in exports.
