AsianFin -- Chinese automaker SAIC Motor and Huawei Technologies have launched the first model under their new electric vehicle brand Shangjie, targeting the mass market with affordable pricing.
The Shangjie H5, a mid-size sport utility vehicle, is now available for pre-order starting at about $23,700, according to Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance, Huawei’s smart car unit, which announced the launch at an autumn product event on Wednesday. The model represents Huawei’s entry into the sub-$28,000 EV market segment.
The H5 comes in two versions. The range-extended model is priced between $23,700 and $26,500, offering a maximum range of 1,360 kilometers (845 miles). The fully electric version ranges from $24,600 to $29,300, with a driving range of 325 to 407 miles.
All models are equipped with Huawei’s HarmonyOS-based cockpit and either the standard or advanced version of the company’s Smart Advanced Driving System 4.0.
