AsianFin -- New car sales in Europe rose 5.9% in July, driven primarily by a strong rebound in Germany that offset declines in Britain, France, and Italy, according to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association released Thursday.

Tesla, despite overall growth in electric vehicle (EV) sales, saw its market share fall for the seventh consecutive month. Chinese automaker BYD, included in the monthly European sales figures for the first time, overtook Tesla, signaling the growing influence of new entrants in Europe’s EV market.

The data underscores a shifting landscape in the region, where traditional automakers and emerging EV players alike are vying for a slice of the fast-growing zero-emission vehicle segment.
