AsianFin -- China’s southern cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen have opened their first downtown duty-free stores, aiming to provide shoppers with more convenient access to tax-free goods.

The Guangzhou store, which opened yesterday, offers both duty-free and regular products from imported and domestic brands. It is a joint venture between China Duty Free Group, Lingnan Group subsidiaries Guangzhou Grandbuy and Guangzhou Lingnan Group Holdings, and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.

The duty-free section includes international beauty brands, premium liquors, luxury watches and jewelry, electronics, and travel accessories. Shoppers must present valid identification and proof of upcoming international travel by plane or cruise within 60 days to make duty-free purchases.

Meanwhile, Shenzhen’s new duty-free store spans nearly 3,000 square meters, featuring beauty and skincare, watches and jewelry, high-end liquors, domestic boutique brands, and electronics. The store is a collaboration between China Duty Free Group, Shenzhen Duty Free Group, and Shenzhen Industrial Group, marking a significant expansion of downtown duty-free retail in the region.
