AsianFin -- China’s exports to Africa have surged as Donald Trump-era tariffs reshape global trade, making the continent a major growth market for the world’s largest manufacturing economy.
Sales to Africa jumped 25% year-on-year to $122 billion, outpacing growth in other major markets, while orders from the US have declined. Exports to the 1.5 billion-strong continent in 2025 have already surpassed the total for 2020 and are on track to exceed $200 billion for the first time.
The trade relationship remains heavily in China’s favor, with the country running a significantly larger surplus than last year. Beijing is simultaneously opening its domestic market and seizing opportunities to support Africa’s growing infrastructure needs.
