AsianFin - Protesters briefly took over Microsoft’s Redmond headquarters on Monday, entering President Brad Smith’s office in Building 34 and triggering a temporary lockdown. The activist group “No Azure for Apartheid” reportedly livestreamed the sit-in on Twitch, displaying banners, chanting slogans like “Brad Smith, you can’t hide, you’re supporting genocide!” and posting a mock legal summons accusing Smith of “crimes against humanity.”

The demonstration included both current Microsoft employees and former staff previously dismissed for activism. It marks the latest escalation in ongoing protests over Microsoft’s cloud contracts with Israel, which have included arrests at company offices.

A recent investigation by The Guardian found that Israel uses Microsoft services to store data from millions of calls made daily by Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
