AsianFin — China officially launched the Galaxy Kylin Operating System V11 at the 2025 China Operating System Industry Conference, positioning it as the country’s most advanced homegrown platform to date.

Developed on a newly designed “Panshi” (Rock) architecture, Galaxy Kylin V11 is pitched as a breakthrough in user experience, cybersecurity, and ecosystem maturity. The system has already surpassed one million applications, making it the first Chinese operating system to achieve such scale, and is fully compatible with mainstream domestic CPUs, GPUs and hardware boards.

The release underscores Beijing’s broader push to reduce reliance on foreign technology amid escalating global tech competition. Analysts say the platform could play a critical role in strengthening China’s digital sovereignty while fostering a robust indigenous software and hardware supply chain.

Galaxy Kylin has already been deployed in flagship national projects, including the Chang’e lunar exploration programand the Tianwen Mars mission. In addition to its extensive use in government services, it has secured large-scale, long-term adoption in key industries such as finance, energy, education and healthcare.
