AsianFin -- Chinese lidar makers RoboSense Technology and Hesai Technology posted triple-digit growth in robot-related sales last quarter, signaling a shift from advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to robotics as the sector’s main growth driver.

RoboSense sold 34,400 lidar units for robotics and other applications in the three months ended June 30, up 632% from a year earlier, according to its earnings report released yesterday. While ADAS products still dominated with 123,800 units sold, that segment rose just 4.6% year on year.

Revenue from RoboSense’s robotics and other businesses reached US$20.5 million, equal to 54% of its ADAS division revenue, the Shenzhen-based firm said.

Hesai also saw rapid growth in robotics, with shipments soaring 744% to 49,000 units in the second quarter, outpacing its ADAS lidar deliveries, which climbed 276% to 300,000 units, the company reported.
