AsianFin -- JD.com has announced that its full-time food delivery riders now exceed 150,000, with the company covering all social insurance and housing fund contributions for each rider, averaging around 2,000 yuan ($280) per person per month.
Beyond mandatory benefits, riders are entitled to statutory holidays, annual leave, home gifts, health checkups, paid sick leave, and a welfare fund, while top-performing riders can advance to roles such as assistant station leader or station leader, offering clear career development opportunities.
JD.com also called on the entire industry to take concrete steps to ensure social security for delivery riders. The company emphasized that platforms should sign labor contracts with riders whenever a labor relationship exists and fulfill obligations to provide full social insurance, allowing riders to share in company growth rather than bypassing responsibilities.
According to JD.com, the profits and market value of major food delivery platforms today are sufficient to support comprehensive social security coverage for all riders.
