AsianFin -- Shanghai’s Ruijin Hospital has become the first medical center to operate the world’s first phased array computed tomography (CT) scanner, developed by Chinese high-tech firm NanoVision Technology. The hospital plans to conduct approximately 400 clinical tests using the cutting-edge device.

“With this CT scanner, we can capture ultra-high-definition pulmonary images,” said Yan Fuhua, director of Ruijin Hospital’s radiology department, at the commissioning ceremony. “Previously, such detailed images could only be achieved through dissection.”

The advanced scanner promises to enhance early disease detection by providing doctors with unprecedented clarity of internal structures. NanoVision Technology said that it expects the device to receive a Class III medical device certification from Chinese regulators by the end of the year.

By combining phased array technology with CT imaging, the device represents a major leap in medical diagnostics, offering the potential for faster, more accurate assessments of complex conditions and improving patient outcomes.
