AsianFin -- China will introduce a new visa category, the K visa, aimed at attracting young science and technology professionals, following a decision by the State Council.

Under the new policy, eligible applicants must meet qualifications and requirements set by Chinese authorities and provide supporting documentation. The rules are set to take effect on October 1.

The K visa will complement China’s existing 12 ordinary visa types, offering greater convenience in terms of multiple entries, validity period, and length of stay, officials said during a press conference on August 14.

Once in China, K visa holders will be able to participate in exchanges across education, culture, science and technology, as well as engage in entrepreneurial and business activities related to their expertise.
