AsianFin -- The U.S. government's gross national debt has surpassed $37 trillion, a new record that underscores the rapid acceleration of America's debt burden and the increasing financial strain on taxpayers.
According to a Treasury Department report issued on Tuesday, the milestone was reached just eight months after the debt first hit $36 trillion in late 2024.
This latest figure highlights a concerning trend of accelerating debt accumulation. The debt grew from $35 trillion to $36 trillion in just over a year, but the jump to $37 trillion happened in a shorter timeframe, signaling increased pressure on the nation's finances.
