AsianFin — AMD CEO Lisa Su believes that a compelling mission is more effective than enormous paychecks when it comes to recruiting top AI talent.
In a recent interview with Wired, Su was asked about the lavish, billion-dollar pay packages that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly offered to attract leading AI researchers.
The 55-year-old CEO stated she would never offer such a package to a potential hire at AMD. "I think competition for talent is fierce. I am a believer, though, that money is important, but frankly, it's not necessarily the most important thing when you're attracting talent," Su said.
She emphasized that a company's vision and goals are what ultimately inspire top researchers, suggesting that a strong sense of purpose can be a more powerful recruitment tool than a staggering salary.
