AsianFin -- Airbnb wants to do more than help you book a place to stay — soon, it wants to handle the entire process for you using AI.

CEO and cofounder Brian Chesky unveiled the company’s AI vision during its Q2 earnings call on Wednesday, saying Airbnb is on track to become an “AI-first application” capable of automating trip planning and booking through intelligent agents.

The announcement came as Airbnb beat second-quarter revenue expectations and launched a $6 billion stock buyback, even as it warned of slower growth in the third quarter. Shares fell more than 6% in after-hours trading.

Chesky said few of the top 50 apps today are truly AI-native, aside from ChatGPT, but predicted that in a few years, virtually all of them will be. Airbnb, he said, is already in the midst of that transformation.
