AsianFin -- OpenAI CEO Sam Altman hinted at the upcoming release of the company’s next-generation AI model, GPT-5, saying it will surpass human intelligence in everyday use cases.

In a post on social media platform X on August 6, Altman wrote, “In the not-too-distant future, an AI smarter than the smartest person you know will run on a device in your pocket, helping you with whatever you want to do. This is a really incredible thing.”

His comments come amid mounting speculation that OpenAI is preparing to launch GPT-5, its latest flagship model. Recent media reports have suggested a release is imminent, while OpenAI executives have been dropping increasingly direct hints on social media platforms.

GPT-5 is widely expected to bring significant improvements in reasoning, multimodal capabilities, and real-world task assistance, further fueling the global race to commercialize advanced AI agents.
