AsianFin -- Tesla has secured a $4.3 billion agreement with South Korea’s LG Energy Solution (LGES) to supply batteries for its energy storage systems, according to a person familiar with the matter, as the U.S. electric vehicle maker seeks to reduce its reliance on Chinese imports amid ongoing tariff pressures.
The lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries will be sourced from LGES’s manufacturing facility in Michigan, the person said, requesting anonymity as the details have not been made public.
