AI Will Become More Accessible, and AGI Is Inevitable, Says MiniMax CEO

AsianFin —AI will become increasingly inclusive and that artificial general intelligence (AGI) is bound to be achieved, said Yan Junjie, founder and CEO of MiniMax, at the main forum of the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference.

Yan noted that the future of AI will be shaped by diversity and collaboration. While different models will have distinct strengths, the industry is moving toward a Multi-Agent paradigm, where multiple models and tools work together. He also highlighted the rapid progress of open-source models over the past year, many of which are now approaching the performance of leading closed-source systems.

“AI will become more accessible to everyone,” Yan said. “Model size scales with chip speed, which means training costs for individual models are nearly fixed, while inference costs are steadily falling. In the next year or two, the cost of running top-tier models could drop by an order of magnitude.” He added that although tokens will become cheaper, overall token usage will rise sharply, driving continued growth in computing demand.

Yan concluded with a firm belief: “AGI will definitely be realized—and it will serve the broader public.”
