AsianFin —2025 marks the inaugural year for widespread deployment of AI agents, said Ye Jieping, Vice President of Alibaba Cloud and Head of the Big Data and Intelligence Lab, at the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference.

Enterprise-level intelligent agents are breaking free from traditional conversational limits by adopting an integrated “perception–decision–execution” architecture, laying the foundation for automating complex tasks, he noted.

Ye emphasized that this shift will drive AI’s evolution from enhanced search tools to autonomous service providers, bringing the industry ecosystem to a critical inflection point. “We are entering the ‘Agent-first’ era, where interaction modes shift from humans adapting to machines toward machines understanding and proactively serving humans. The core lies in agents autonomously handling complex tasks and continuously evolving through interaction,” he said.

He added, “As Level-3 intelligent agents become the industrial foundation, we will witness an exponential productivity revolution fueled by emergent intelligence and ecosystem self-organization.”
