AsianFin -- Intel may be forced to exit the chip manufacturing business if it fails to attract outside clients for its next-generation foundry services, the company cautioned on Thursday.

Newly appointed CEO Lip-Bu Tan said engineers are actively collaborating with potential customers to accelerate the adoption of Intel’s advanced contract manufacturing technology. His remarks came as the company announced sweeping layoffs and projected a deeper-than-expected loss for the third quarter.
