AsianFin -- BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. and China Datang Corporation Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Thursday to build a green automotive value chain, with a new joint venture established.

Their cooperation makes BMW Brilliance China's first automaker to build a green electricity joint venture.

The venture will develop a 1-gigawatt onshore wind power project, vaulting BMW Brilliance to the forefront of renewable energy generation in the country.

It is expected to first supply BMW's Shenyang production base with stable, high-quality green electricity and then provide flexible purchasing options for BMW's Liaoning-based suppliers, dealers and charging-service operators, according to BMW Brilliance.
