AsianFin -- China has launched construction of a massive dam on the Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet, a project that officials say could become the world’s largest source of hydroelectric power once completed.

The mega-dam, located in the foothills of the Himalayas, will feature five hydropower stations along the river. Known as the Brahmaputra in India and the Jamuna in Bangladesh, the river’s downstream flow has long been a source of geopolitical sensitivity in the region.
