AsianFin -- Starting July 20, Beijing has officially banned gasoline-powered vehicles from registering on ride-hailing platforms, according to the Ride-Hailing Committee of the China Urban Public Transport Association.
The move signals a broader industry shift as more Chinese cities accelerate the phase-out of fossil fuel vehicles in favor of new energy alternatives. The ride-hailing sector is now poised to enter a full-fledged electrification era, aligning with the country’s wider goals of carbon neutrality and sustainable urban mobility.
