AsianFin -- India is set to unveil its first domestically produced semiconductor chip within this year, marking a major milestone in the country’s push for tech self-reliance, according to a July 18 report by The Economic Times.

Six semiconductor fabrication plants are currently under accelerated development, as the country aims to launch large-scale mass production of “Made-in-India” chips by the end of 2025. The move aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s broader strategy to reduce dependence on foreign chipmakers and position India as a global semiconductor hub.
