AsianFin -- South Africa could lose up to 100,000 jobs as a result of U.S. President Donald Trump's new tariffs, with the agricultural and automotive sectors likely to suffer the most, central bank governor Lesetja Kganyago said on Wednesday.
Speaking to local radio station 702, Kganyago warned that the 30% tariff—set to take effect on August 1—could inflict substantial harm on key industries in Africa’s largest economy.
