AsianFin -- Wang Xingxing, founder and CEO of Hangzhou-based Unitree Robotics, called for greater global cooperation—particularly between China and the United States—to drive the future of humanoid robotics, citing complementary strengths across nations.

Speaking at a press event organized by China’s State Council Information Office on July 15, Wang said the direction of humanoid robot technology is a shared global goal, but different countries bring unique advantages to the table.

“China has deep roots in manufacturing and hardware, while the U.S. boasts a rich AI software ecosystem,” Wang said. “Each side has strengths, and collaboration between them is both necessary and valuable.”

Wang added that Unitree has long promoted open collaboration, including through software open-sourcing and enabling customers to develop their own applications on its robots—something he said brings him both pride and satisfaction.

“At this stage, both robotics and AI are facing significant challenges,” he said. “This is exactly why international cooperation is critical. It’s a mission worth pursuing—to develop technologies and products together that can serve the world better.”
