AsianFin -- U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday that a trade agreement with Vietnam is “pretty well set,” signaling the deal is nearing completion.
Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews outside Washington, Trump said he could disclose details of the agreement but didn't believe it was necessary at the moment.
Earlier this month, Trump announced a preliminary trade deal with Vietnam that would slash planned U.S. tariffs on Vietnamese imports to 20%, down from the 46% level he had threatened in April. The move is part of a broader push to rebalance trade relationships with key partners in Asia.
