AsianFin -- China recorded 13.64 million visa-free foreign arrivals in the first half of 2025, accounting for 71.2% of all inbound foreign travelers during the period — a 53.9% year-on-year increase, according to official data released this week.
The sharp rise comes as China continues to expand its visa-free entry policies and streamline services for foreign visitors. In the first half of the year, a new visa-free entry program was implemented for tour groups from ASEAN countries entering Xishuangbanna in Yunnan Province. Indonesia was also added to the list of countries eligible for China’s 240-hour visa-free transit policy.
The National Immigration Administration said it is actively working with relevant ministries to enhance convenience for foreign nationals in areas such as digital payments, accommodations, and transportation. These measures are aimed at facilitating cross-border travel and strengthening international economic and trade cooperation.
