AsianFin — The U.S. Department of Commerce has initiated a Section 232 investigation into imported drones and drone components, according to a notice published in the Federal Register. The probe, which began on July 1, will assess whether such imports pose a threat to national security.
If the investigation determines that national security is at risk, the President could impose tariffs or other trade restrictions on the products.
In a separate notice, the Commerce Department also confirmed an ongoing Section 232 investigation into imports of polysilicon and its derivatives—a key material in the solar and semiconductor industries.
