AsianFin -- Amazon has launched the preview version of its new AI-powered coding tool, Kiro, which aims to redefine how developers build software by emphasizing collaboration before code generation.
Unlike many AI tools that start writing code immediately after receiving a prompt, Kiro works alongside developers to define requirements, system architecture, and implementation tasks before any coding begins. The approach positions Kiro as a direct competitor to GitHub’s Copilot Agents and Google’s Gemini CodeAssist.
Kiro will be free during the preview phase, with Amazon planning to introduce three pricing tiers in the future. CEO Andy Jassy described the tool as having “the potential to fundamentally change the way developers build software.”
