AsianFin -- Nvidia said Monday it is preparing to restart sales of its H20 graphics processing unit (GPU) chips in China and has introduced a new model designed to comply with U.S. export controls while meeting Chinese market demand.
In a blog post, the U.S. chipmaker confirmed it is in the process of filing applications with the U.S. government to resume shipments of the H20 GPU to Chinese customers, with licenses expected “soon.” Deliveries are likely to follow shortly after approvals are granted.
Nvidia also unveiled a new product, the RTX Pro GPU, developed specifically for the Chinese market. The company described the chip as “fully compliant” with export regulations and said it is optimized for digital twin AI workloads across industries such as smart manufacturing and logistics.
The move underscores Nvidia’s efforts to maintain a foothold in China—its largest overseas market—despite tightening U.S. export restrictions on advanced AI chips. The company had previously paused shipments of its top-performing GPUs to China following updated U.S. controls last year.
Nvidia has repeatedly said it is committed to serving the Chinese market within the boundaries of current regulations. The RTX Pro marks the latest attempt to strike that balance while capitalizing on strong demand for AI-related computing power in the region.
