AsianFin -- Aravind Srinivas, CEO of AI search startup Perplexity—backed by Nvidia—said on social media Saturday that the company may use the newly released Kimi K2 model for post-training, citing its strong performance.
Srinivas noted that Perplexity had previously trained models using DeepSeek R1, another Chinese open-source large language model.
Kimi K2, developed by Chinese AI company Moonshot AI, is a trillion-parameter open-source model launched this past Friday. It has delivered top results across multiple benchmarks among major open-source models globally.
