Harvard Shuts Down Diversity Program Websites Amid Renewed Pressure from Trump Administration

Jul 11, 2025, 12:08 a.m. ET

AsianFin — Several web pages under Harvard College dedicated to supporting minority, female, and other underrepresented student groups were abruptly taken offline on July 10, prompting widespread attention both on and off campus.

The sites now redirect to a newly launched page for the Office for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging – Cultural and Community Initiatives, which Harvard says is intended to “break down silos, consolidate resources, and provide connection and support for all community members.”

The timing of the move coincides with mounting political pressure from the Trump administration, which has criticized diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs at elite institutions. A White House official called the website removal a "welcome development."

The development comes amid intensifying national debate over affirmative action and DEI policies following the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2023 ruling striking down race-conscious college admissions.
