AsianFin -- White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett is emerging as a leading candidate to become the next chair of the U.S. Federal Reserve, according to a Wall Street Journal report on Tuesday citing people familiar with the matter.

Hassett reportedly met with President Donald Trump at least twice in June to discuss the role, signaling growing momentum behind his candidacy.

Trump has previously said he is considering three or four individuals for the Fed’s top job. In addition to Hassett, the shortlist is said to include former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh, current Fed Governor Christopher Waller, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
