AsianFin -- OpenAI has publicly distanced itself from Robinhood’s sale of so-called “OpenAI tokens,” warning that the offering does not grant buyers any equity or ownership stake in the company.
“These ‘OpenAI tokens’ are not OpenAI equity,” the company said Wednesday via its official newsroom account on X. “We did not partner with Robinhood, were not involved in this, and do not endorse it.”
OpenAI emphasized that any transfer of its equity requires prior approval, which was not granted in this case. “Please be careful,” the company added in its post, urging the public to avoid confusion over unauthorized investment products bearing its name.
