AsianFin -- OpenAI is reportedly overhauling its compensation packages following a string of high-profile researcher departures to Meta.
In an internal Slack message obtained by Wired, OpenAI Chief Research Officer Mark Chen acknowledged the wave of exits, likening it to a personal breach: “I feel a visceral feeling right now, as if someone has broken into our home and stolen something.”
Chen told employees that OpenAI leadership — including CEO Sam Altman — has been working “around the clock” to engage with team members who have received outside offers. “We’ve been more proactive than ever before,” he wrote, adding that the company is “recalibrating comp” and exploring “creative ways to recognize and reward top talent.”
The message comes amid Meta’s aggressive push to attract AI talent, including several senior OpenAI researchers.
