AsianFin -- FAW Toyota Motor Sales Co., Ltd. has officially relocated its sales headquarters from Beijing to a new office building in Tianjin’s Binhai New Area, marking a significant strategic shift for the company.
The move, which took nearly a year to complete, reflects efforts to optimize operations and enhance coordination between production and sales.
Established in September 2003, FAW Toyota is a joint venture between China FAW Group Corporation and Japan’s Toyota Motor Corporation. Its shareholders include China FAW Group (38%), Toyota Motor (32%), and Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (30%). The company had previously operated out of the Crown Ocean Building in Beijing’s Haidian District and later relocated to the World Financial Center (WFC) in Beijing before its latest move to Tianjin.
FAW Toyota’s sales headquarters is responsible for the sales and after-sales services of domestically produced Toyota, Daihatsu, FAW, and Ranz vehicles, as well as related parts and accessories. It also manages marketing strategy, dealer support, repair shop training, and automotive brokerage services.
Notably, for the past 22 years, FAW Toyota’s manufacturing and sales operations had been geographically split—production concentrated in Tianjin, while sales and marketing remained in Beijing. While this structure functioned for years, it gradually revealed inefficiencies amid the intensifying competition in China’s automotive market.
The consolidation of both production and sales in Tianjin is expected to enhance operational synergy and improve decision-making speed, as FAW Toyota adapts to a fast-evolving industry landscape.
