AsianFin -- Huawei’s chips are gradually beginning to support DeepSeek’s AI model computing power, forming a critical foundation for China’s artificial intelligence development, said Zhu Min, a senior advisor at the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, during the 2025 Summer Davos Forum held in Tianjin on Monday.
“The combination of Huawei’s hardware and DeepSeek’s models provides a powerful base for China’s AI applications,” Zhu said in response to a question on the country’s AI trajectory.
He projected that within the next 18 to 24 months, AI applications will accelerate rapidly in China, driving the growth of the broader software industry and making inroads into the real economy and consumer markets.
Zhu highlighted China’s unique advantages in developing AI: “First, scale — China accounts for 30% of global manufacturing, has a consumer market of 1.4 billion people, and tens of millions of engineers. Second, scenario richness — China offers a wide range of real-world use cases for AI deployment.”
He also noted that China’s AI-related academic research is increasingly focused on practical applications and has now surpassed the U.S. in terms of publication volume.
