AsianFin -- South Korea’s SK Group and Amazon Web Services are set to invest approximately 7 trillion won ($5.11 billion) to build the country’s largest artificial intelligence data center, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced Friday.
Of the total investment, $4 billion will come from Amazon’s cloud computing arm. The hyperscale data center will be constructed in the southern industrial city of Ulsan, with groundbreaking scheduled for September.
Once completed in 2029, the facility will boast a power capacity of 100 megawatts, underscoring South Korea’s ambition to become a regional AI and cloud infrastructure hub.
