AsianFin -- A SpaceX Starship prototype exploded late Wednesday during a ground test in Texas, just as the company was preparing for the rocket system’s tenth test flight.
In a post on X, SpaceX confirmed that “all personnel are safe and accounted for” and assured that there were “no hazards to residents in surrounding communities.”
In a follow-up update on Thursday, the company said a preliminary investigation pointed to a failure of a pressurized tank — specifically a composite overwrapped pressure vessel, or COPV — located in the vehicle’s nosecone as the likely cause of the blast.
