AsianFin — Meta has offered signing bonuses of up to $100 million to lure OpenAI employees, but none have accepted so far, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said on a podcast Tuesday.
According to Altman, the $100 million offer was solely a signing bonus, with total compensation packages extending far beyond that. He noted that Meta appears to view OpenAI as its biggest rival in the AI space, although the social media giant’s recent AI efforts “haven’t worked out quite as they hoped.”
“I respect their aggressiveness and willingness to try new things,” Altman added.
The comments come amid reports that Meta has delayed the release of its AI model “Behemoth” due to concerns over performance. Sources also say Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has expressed deep frustration over the company’s position in the AI race and is now willing to commit massive investments to attract top-tier talent in a bid to catch up.
